SUMPTUOUS VELVETS & PERSIAN RUGS ROCK
BY FINISHING TOUCHES
This year has seen us move premises across the arcade to units 8 & 9. We are working with locals and grockles alike, ranging from local housing projects to Devon barns ‘n farms, stretching from Mull to Southern France.
Upholstery has been very popular this year, with a trend in chaises and Granny’s vintage chair being turned into our favourite HERO piece, that wow on site.
We have seen colour trends change from greys to more exciting colours being used from mustard, Charteuse green and jade with the occasional pinks, purples and oranges, which show us are bringing more colour into our homes.
Keep in mind this new colour for 2018: Marrs Green. I’m sure we will hear again about this colour hue, which is a dark teal between blue and green, and actually revealed as the world’s favourite colour. Will it be ours in the south west I wonder?
Also notice the emergence of rusty orange shades. Brown furniture is back but only in small doses so don’t go painting everything anymore. Turquoise is still going strong, but it’s slightly brighter than it was when we combined it with chocolate brown the trendy neutral of the moment. Which colour are you loving lately?
Persian carpets are back, born in Iran (formerly known as Persia), with their strong symmetrical patterns and colours, are the perfect decor element for adding a little pattern in the design, together with an Oriental twist. Their colours, which are usually warm and in the reds range, also fit perfectly the present colour taste which is going towards earthy and strong hues.
This xmas we see a return to sumptuous velvets and silks.
